History

The International Conference on Synthesis, Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Methods and Applications to Circuit Design (SMACD) has its origins in the International Workshop on Symbolic Methods and Applications to Circuit Design (SMACD) held in:

  • 1991: Bagneux, France.
  • 1992: Firenze, Italy.
  • 1994: Seville, Spain.
  • 1996: Leuven, Belgium.
  • 1998: Kaiserslautern, Germany.
  • 2000: Lisboa, Portugal.
  • 2002: Sinaia, Romania.
  • 2004: Wroclaw, Poland.
  • 2006: Firenze, Italy.

With an updated scope and named International Workshop on Symbolic and Numerical Methods, Modeling and Applications to Circuit Design (SMACD), two new editions took place in:

  • 2008: Erfurt, Germany.
  • 2010: Gammarth, Tunisia.

For the 2012’s edition in Sevilla, we changed the conference name to its present name, and the acronym changed back to the original one (SMACD). There was a dramatic update and expansion of the scope in which our traditional (and beloved) symbolic activity started to play a marginal role. From that edition, the name and acronym have remained the same, and we have usually performed some minor updates of the scope in each edition and the structuring in areas we can see today. Since 2016, SMACD has been co-located with PRIME bringing designers and EDA developers together.
